After talking to representatives at Pentair Water Pool and Spa and reviewing pumps from a number of other suppliers, Pursley and his team decided on 13 of Pentair’s EQ Series pumps. The EQ Series pumps are built to last and built to be efficient, quiet, lightweight and corrosion-resistant.
“It seems that the EQ pump was designed for this project,” Pursley said. “The EQ Series pumps deliver exceptional performance in every key aspect. The features are unmatched by any other supplier, plus the ease of installation of the pumps made our job of installing 13 pumps a lot easier.” Also, having been a customer in the past, Pursley knew that Pentair offered high-quality products and provided excellent customer service and support. This was critical for Panama Pool’s family-owned and operated business.
Construction on the lazy river and lagoon attraction broke ground in January 2004. Panama Pools installed 13 EQ Series pumps in August; the project was complete by the end of October 2004. “Since one of the pools is heated, vacationers and residents at the resort are using the attraction all year long,” said Pursley. “The ability of the EQ pump to handle more water quickly was crucial, as these pumps are in continuous use.”
Panama Pools installed nine 15-horsepower (HP) three-phase 60-hertz models on the lazy river and two EQ pumps on the waterfalls. They also purchased one 7.5-HP model to install on the heated pool and one 5-HP model on the zero-depth lagoon pool.
The self-priming EQ series pump also allowed for easy one-man installation. Pursley stresses that this was one of the biggest selling points for him. “We didn’t need to get machines out to the construction site to unload and install the pumps, one worker could easily transport the pump and install it on his own. This process is not usually simple when you have to get to an island in the middle of a pool to install a pump. The EQ Series made it easy.”
“The competitors’ pumps do not come close to offering the ease of installation, long motor life, efficiency and quietness of the EQ series,” said Pursley. No one else in the industry has made a plastic injection-molded pump with performance like this for pool and water applications.
At the heart of the EQ Series’ performance is its unique impeller design, allowing the pump to move more water in a lesser amount of time. Also, the impeller design means the pump’s motor doesn’t have to work as hard, therefore the motor runs cooler and lasts considerably longer.
The EQ Series pump is ideal for almost any kind of commercial application. The pump has been through a rigorous design, development and testing program and is proven to handle the toughest installations for years to come. It is available in 5, 7.5, 10 and 15-HP three-phase models and 5 and 7.5-HP single-phase models, and is closed coupled for quiet stable flow operation. The pump also features a Cam and Ramp™ lid design with a clear lid for added convenience during service.
