Focusing primarily on commercial installations, Mike Phillips, Manager of Development and Construction for Southern Pools understood that housing space for pumps and filters was an issue for his clients, plus the municipal codes on water in his area was a key inhibitor to providing a quality pump and filtration system for professional pools.
Due to city/county codes in the Charlotte area, Southern Pools needed to supply clients with a filtration system that could efficiently and effectively clean the pool. “We are limited to how many gallons of water we can push away at one time,” noted Phillips.
Space is also a major factor. Many projects do not have the room available to house the equipment to adequately maintain a pool, so Phillips needed quality pool equipment that not only got the job done, but also was size sensitive – it can’t be too big.
Other issues to consider when choosing product included cost, availability of the product, service and support. Being a family-owned business, Southern Pools wanted to work with a supplier who offered quality, affordable pool systems. Also, the supplier needed to be able to support and service Southern Pools when called upon. Summer in North Carolina is not the time when the country club pool should be closed due to a dirty pool or broken filter. In that respect, the supplier should likewise be capable of providing replacement equipment or components should the need arise.
Overall, Phillips required a reputable and trustworthy manufacturer who offered affordable and superior pool products, had products available and in stock with a strong customer service and support team. Pentair Pool Products was the perfect fit.
